Tools and Hardware Reviews of Peltor M2RX7A Alert AM/FM Radio HeadsetCustomer Review: am reception very poor, sound excellent Summary: 3 StarsThe sound reduction system with a dial to allow conversation but still stop the noise is excellent. Highly recommended. However, the AM station I listen to, which has an antenna close to me, and reaches 90 miles to the West and about 35 miles to the East, is very in and out. On a lawn mower it is horrible as every time you turn, the sound level goes up or even totally silent. You wind up cocking your head for best reception as you mow. Not sure why the am reception is so poor. I have other radio that I use to garden and it maintains volume no matter which way I face. I have not tried the FM as I don't listen to it.
Customer Review: Can you hear me now? Yes, because I've got microphones! Summary: 5 Stars*****July 5, 2008*****
These babies are fantastic. I use them while I'm working on projects and when I'm doing yard work. They are comfortable, not too hot, strong, and resistant to rain (so far). The sound quality is excellent, too.
Also, the surround microphones cut out when sound is greater than 85 dB (peaking), while the radio stays on.
Volume knob for surround microphones
Volume knob for radio
Tuning knob for radio stations
Toggle switch for AM/FM (this switch is inset, so as not to bump it easily)

I have a few more things to add.
Being that each speaker is isolated from the other, the stereo in these is amazing--a much-intensified listening experience.
Also, I will say that these are a little difficult to fit under my Skull Bucket full brim hard had. Luckily, though, I can get a comfortable, tight fit out of my hard had with these ear protectors on underneath of it. I advise using caution at heights, though, as there is a higher potential for the hard had to fall off with these on under it.
I've been using these every so often since the summer, and still have yet to change the batteries!
Customer Review: Great features Summary: 4 StarsThis product delivers as stated. Sound attenuation is excellent. Ability to adjust volume to hear important/normal sounds is great. Comfortable for short term use. Only negatives: 1. hot if worn for over 30-45" at a time. 2. tuner on radio is very sensitive, digital tuner would be nice.
Customer Review: peltor M2RX7A Summary: 5 StarsI work in a high noise area and have always worn hearing protection but, would remove it to talk with co workers. These hearing protectors from peltor are a terrific product.
I was looking for hearing protection with a radio and decided to try these.I can let through enough sound to be able to understand my co- workers while not having to remove them. The radio makes time go by quickly, and the sound is much better than expected, the separate volume controls are great.
They would be better if the "surround" also had a separate on/off button instead of a combined one with the volume control, and the radio was digital, along with slightly bigger ear cups.
Overall these are a great product and are doing all the things that I purchased them to do.
A little pricey but, well worth the extra money.
Customer Review: better than expected Summary: 5 StarsI do a lot of woodworking. Sometimes the noise gets bothersome and I was starting to notice a problem with his hearing. I also enjoys listening to the radio while working. The Peltor Alert AM/FM radio headset has solved both problems. The radio headset has elimated a lot of the high pitch noises that bother hearing and still I can listen to the radio. I can still hear outside sounds. (talking, machine sounds, etc.) to make wearing them safe. It just helps elimates the bad sounds.
